If you disagree with the Collin County appraisal district's value or any action of the Collin County appraisal district about your property, you may file a protest with the Collin County Appraisal Review Board. The deadline to file a protest is May 31 or 30 days after notice of assessed value is mailed, whichever is later. The Collin County appraisal district is only required to send a notice of assessed value if the assessed value increased by more than $1,000.
The Collin County appraisal district will meet with you informally to review your protest. After filing your protest, you will receive written notice of the date, time, and place for a formal hearing with the Collin County Appraisal Review Board. At the formal hearing, the appraisal review board listens to both the taxpayer and the Collin County appraisal district appraiser. The Collin County Appraisal Review Board's decisions are binding only for the tax year in question. |
